It’s like an Elder Scrolls game, only with a plot.
The basic concept of the game is: you go around in the world, collecting monsters and fighting them, then you’ll get some better equipment that’ll make you stronger than before, until you can destroy every monster in the world… which is kind of a twist. If you die too much, you’ll become useless, but that’s the way it is in real life, and it’s this mechanic that makes Heroes of Steel such an engaging game. You can go off and do other stuff, and the world is fully interactive with other players, meaning that there’s always a story to go around.
The game is not action-packed, though, so if you’re looking for an RPG with fast-paced action that’ll break your skull, you’ll have to look elsewhere. In the game’s defense, the fact that enemies’ weaknesses only appear once you’ve learned about them, so you’ll always know when you’re going to die, is one of the biggest things I like about it. Usually, in RPGs, if you know something about your enemy, and know about it well enough to exploit it, you’ll know that you’re about to get hit, so you’ll try to run away from it as soon as possible. Heroes of Steel is very different in that respect: the weaker the enemy is, the longer it’ll take to know that it’s vulnerable.
It’s a pretty typical, well-made RPG. The pacing is fairly good, the characters are interesting, the world is cool, the music is great (I personally don’t mind a bit of piano), and I’ll leave the credits out of this review, since they’re really one of the greatest things about the game. The complete music of a game for a fair price.
As I’m writing this review, I’m listening to both game’s scores. If you’re a fan of action or adventure-oriented music, you’re probably going to enjoy it; if you’re a fan of indie music, you’ll love it.

Players adventure from Oblivion’s Vault 57. The gameplay is identical to Oblivion, with the exception of several changes.
