There are two versions to Media Exchange, the CDROM version of “ME”, and a MSDN one.
The MSDN one is somewhat of a ‘jukebox’ version, with no HTML or url navigation. It’s like a “single play” version, you can only play one CD at a time, and it doesnt have any’merge’ or’remove’ or ‘tag’ features.

The user of Media Exchange must be a member of the Media Exchange Center (MEC) and be logged in to his account. He can then log into Media Exchange and start the application.
After logging in, the user is presented with his music library. This is built automatically by Media Exchange. The user can add tracks and remove tracks to his library from the right side of the main window. He can also add new artists, rename artists and delete artists. This is done by going to the “albums” menu, clicking on a artist and then selecting one of the different operations.
By clicking on the “play” button, the user can select which track he wants to play and this is done using the browser which Media Exchange runs in. The user can browse through the different songs on his track list in order by album, artist or track number.
After selecting one of the artists, Media Exchange will start playing the song. The selection will be highlighted when it is playing. The user can stop and start the play list.
By clicking on the “info” button, a new page will open with more details about the track.
By clicking on the “download” button, the user can download the track by simply clicking on it. The user can then save this file on his harddrive using the application.
On the left side of the main window the user can see the music that he has already downloaded. This is a list of all the tracks that he downloaded directly from the artists or through importing.
The user can also share songs with his friends. The application is integrated with the Gnutella network. When the user logs in to the Media Exchange Center, the user can start a chat, either with other users in the center, or send a message to the other users in the center.
When the user talks to his friends, the message is sent via the Gnutella network and when the recipient has a Gnutella client, he will receive the message and start up Media Exchange to play the track. The user can play the track and then decide to download it from the Gnutella network. By doing this, the user will share the music with his friends.
The user can easily export his music. The user can download a track to his harddrive and then save this file with a special extension in his favorites folder.
