Working with Next Gen sequences
Split Chimeras is very easy to use. The first step is to load a FASTA file that contains the Next Gen sequences.
There are two ways to load the FASTA file: by clicking on the Open button (right mouse click menu) or by drag and drop.
After the file is loaded the application displays the file contents and the user can click on the left mouse button to select the desired sequences. If there are multiple sequences the file is first split in multiple files so the user can select each one. After selecting the FASTA file by mouse click, the user can either select the sequences in the file itself or a FASTA sequence may be selected from the results list of the application.
The user can then select a specific sequence to start editing or remove it by selecting the sequence in the list and pressing the Delete button on the right of the main window.
To finish editing the selected sequences, the user can press the OK button.
Working with the Coverage report
When the application is running and the user selects a FASTA sequence file the program displays the sequence in the main window. To this end, Split Chimeras requires a file called coverage report that contains the name of the chromosomes, the orientation of the genes, the coverage of each gene and the summary of the analysis of all the FASTA sequences.
The program will check if the coverage report is available and if it is present it will display the file in the main window. If the coverage report is not available, the user will be informed of the situation by an error message.
