i have windows 7 ultimate x64 oem esd july 2018, i would like to update to sp1. after downloading the iso file and burning it to a cd, i was able to upgrade my copy of windows 7 ultimate x64 oem esd july 2018 to sp1. however, when i run the setup.exe, it does not seem to want to upgrade. i cannot see the windows update icon in the notification area. i tried running setup.exe /updatenow. i got a message saying “this is a known problem, try restarting the computer”. now, i cant even get the setup.exe to run, it just hangs. my system does not shutdown when i press the power button. i need to force shutdown. i would also like to know what the difference is between an oem and retail version of windows 7. i purchased the oem. i was told that i could install the retail version but i should only do that if the system i was upgrading was a retail version (which is not the case).
