ageia has recently announced that they are going to release the card to the public as a driver for windows vista. this is great news since the card was first announced at the beginning of 2006 and it is also good to know that the card was built with directx 9 support and it is using its own graphics drivers. this will help them out with the support issues that they currently have with dx9. we need to remember that ageia was created before the dx10 was created and ageia is rumored to have chosen not to support dx10 because they felt that dx10 was a huge step backwards from dx9 and that they would be unable to keep up with the dx10 changes. however, if they could get some dx9 titles to use physx then it would greatly help the prospects of the card. with over 20 titles released in 2008, the prospects for ageia are looking better and better. lets hope that ageia does well and has better luck with the dx10 support.
if you want the best bang for your buck solution to get into physx, the 128mb bfg physx ppu is the way to go. as we mentioned before, the card comes with dx10 support and at a retail price point of $199.00, the card is now a great deal. at $199.00, you can also upgrade to a 64mb card as well at $79.00 which is a good bang for your buck solution as well. both cards have excellent support and the card is reliable as well.
the ageia physx card has two fans, one on the side and another on the bottom, there are also four fans on the case and the card itself has an integrated heatsink. there are still thousands of these cards sold around the world and can be purchased on ebay for about $20-$40.
