To get started with “IconHider”, you must first download and install the IconHider Application. This is located at the IconHider page at
www.izannagan.com. After that, you need to get an open and empty CD.
Go to the “Step Two” section of the “Getting Started” page.
After that, you want to run the IconHider application and hold down the Shift key when you click on the “Install Now” button. You should then be prompted to insert a blank CD into your computer. The program will then begin to install itself. This might take a while, so be patient.
Once you’ve finished installing IconHider, you will get a tray icon you can use to hide and show your desktop icons.
The next time you want to hide your desktop icons, simply click the icon and it will do so immediately. No need to reboot your computer. When you want to show the desktop icons, simply click the icon again.
To start a screen saver after you’ve installed IconHider, click the “ScreenSaver Settings” item in the main menu, and then click the “Start The ScreenSaver” button.
Now, when you right-click the icon in your desktop tray, you’ll be able to configure how you want to use it. In the next section, you’ll see the shortcuts.

If you don’t want to use the IconHider tray icon, check the “Do not use IconHider tray icon” option. When checked, you won’t be able to use the icon.
If you wish to stop using the icon entirely, check the “Send notification of changes” option.

I’m not sure where everyone lives, but I live in a sleepy little town called Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, population 8,000. When I say sleepy, I don’t mean under lots of hay and freshly churned butter, lots of fun and smiling. This is no Funland. This is a little backwater town. The people who live here are mostly farmers and teachers. There is nothing to do.
There’s a hair salon down the road, a liquor store, and the half-empty Wal-Mart. There’s a little dollar store and a Dairy Queen right next to the Wal-Mart.

IconHider
The purpose of this Windows95/NT/98/Me program is to be a simple utility that will allow you to quickly and easily hide (or show) your desktop icons. You can also minimize all the Windows programs, but a better solution is to do this from the Start > Programs window.
3) Locate the folder that contains the “showdesktop.ini” file. You can locate it in a wide variety of ways. You can go to your CD or DVD and navigate to your “icons” folder. To do that, you can use either Windows Explorer, or you can open your computer’s CD/DVD drive, then right-click on the DVD or CD you’re currently using, and then select “Properties”. This should open up a window similar to the one below:
You can use the “Go to…” drop-down box to navigate to your “icons” folder.
4) Use the “Get info” option (or “Properties”) to locate and open up the “showdesktop.ini” file. You’ll see a line that looks like this:
“C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Windows\DESKTOP.INI\IniFileName”
Locate and open the “IniFileName” folder.
5) If you can’t find the “IniFileName” folder, you may need to install an optional Windows program called “Ninite”. Download this program from www.ninite.com
Once you get Ninite installed, browse to the Ninite website and you’ll see the top entry, “Ninite For Windows”, and you should see a left-hand column that says “Click for Full Version…” If you click on that link you’ll be able to download and install an optional program.
Once you do this, open up your Ninite window. You’ll see a list of all the programs you’re allowed to download. You don’t need to allow all of them. You should choose “IniFileName” and then click on “Submit”.
Once you do this, an “Ninite icon” should appear in your system tray. You can right-click on that icon and that will open up the Ninite window. Click on the entry “showdesktop.ini” and “install” that program. If you don’t like the desktop icon, click on “Details” to see the details of what that program will do to your computer and click
