The saint of Kasi Mutt at Tirupanandhal was the late holder of the title Shri Desikar. He took great pains to compile a book on the Tamil language as the light to the Tamil world. That work is now available to everyone as ‘Tamil Vayu Mudi’. The second book he liked compiling is ‘Thiruvalluvar Kuzhupatrunextra’. The last book completed is ‘Thiruvalluvar Thirinjalvilai ‘. A book completed in Tamil, written by Sri Kumaraguruparar himself is ‘Ponnal’. The saint of Kasi Mutt in Tirupanandhal is Shri&r Servarama Kaseesmachari Kuppuswami Desikar. He has the title ‘Servarama’ since he never studied in a Mutt, rather studied in the homes of his parents and took his title after the name of his father. He has been described by one of his students as ‘Servarama muthukudam ‘. He is one of the truly great saints of the high-caste community, in which, owing to ancestral custom, those who have learned and served in a Mutt quite naturally come under the influence of a certain set of religious values. It is in such a circumstance that the great saint Kumaraguru has both drawn the people into his fold and shaped his own philosophy of life. The philosophy in his handbook ‘Atmagnam’ (Sanskrit File: upabhava), and in his writings ‘Servarama Thirukkuvalam’, and ‘Ramanathanam’ (Sanskrit File: Ramanatha) has clarified that the deen he stands for is the liberated path which is his life ideal.
